Two years ago, in the midst of trying to understand why God would let Jacob die, my daughter brought home her weekly Bible verse to memorize. It lay on the table before me. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding" Proverbs 3:5. I kept it on the refrigerator ever since as a reminder.

Just last week, I took all the odd and end papers off the refrigerator in an effort to de-clutter, including that Bible verse. I figured I knew it pretty well and have come to a better place with Jacob's death.

Monday, while doing her homework, E said, "I don't have to memorize my Bible verse this week because I learned it in first grade." I said, "Oh yeah? What is it?" She replied, "Proverbs 3:5-6." And she proceeded to quote it.

I put it back on the fridge.
